UPDATE June 2003

The LADTA “visitledbury” website is up and running, with over 1880 “hits” registered to the website since its update early this year.

The site now contains information about accommodation, shopping, events, news, transport links, history and contains some 1400 files in 140 directories. The size of the site is approx 25mb and is hosted by ereal, a Hereford based company.
The site is also available translated in 8 languages, and the translation follows into any linked page from the visitledbury website. Ledbury in Bloom and The English Festival have their own domains and webpages within visitledbury.

Local businesses are taking up the offer of links and webspace – and those linked through visitledbury are The Talbot Hotel, The Royal Oak, the Feathers, Heathfield House, Eastnor Castle, Chrisma Lingerie, The Toybox, John Miles Butchers, Wall Hills Country House, Ledbury Gift Engraving, The China Set, and quite a few more. Restaurants and local shops are not as well represented as I would like to give a flavour of the town and what it has to offer.

Information for visitors coming to Ledbury is also available, and this includes maps, travel information, taxis and bus/rail connections. This section will be extended to include doctors, dentists and chemists contact, together with hospital information and location.

There have been a number of businesses for whom I have produced websites through the LADTA offer, and currently websites are bring produced for Orlham Farm, Ledbury Party Hire and Sozogifts which will be an online shop. These have or will have links through the website. I am happy to help individuals or businesses who wish to make use of the internet to promote their business.

Complementary comments have been received from people who have come to Ledbury after using the website, to date no adverse comments have been received. It is intended to change the welcome page according to the seasons, and I am in the process of collecting pictures. I would invite all LADTA members with a computer connection to look at the website and tell me of any new features, inaccuracies, problems or improvements which could be made to the site

With the introduction to Ledbury of wireless broadband, a fast internet connection, this offers the possibility of a webcam system showing the town in real time. This would not be a security camera and its use would be allied to town promotion. Many attractive towns now have this and I believe could be used to real advantage. System costs have not been discussed but a joint venture with Ledbury Town Council could be investigated.

Events information is important, and anyone with details on any event is welcome to contact me for inclusion in the site. It is essential that visitors to the website are presented with up to date information and I would be pleased to make contact with anyone who has monthly event listings.

As I have mentioned, I am more than willing to assist with anyone wishing to start using the internet, email or websites.
